2012 PLAYOFF COMMENTARY BY MELINA

LOS ANGELES LAKERS VS. OKLAHOMA THUNDER
WESTERN CONFERENCE SEMI-FINALS
So far the Playoffs have been getting everybody worked up, especially with Oklahoma City’s win over the Lakers. Being a Lakers fan myself, I was so sad, but for Kevin Durant and his band of Russell Westbrook, James Harden, Serge Ibaka and former Laker Derek Fisher, things seem to be going really smooth and nice. The win wasn’t easy, and to beat The Lake-show’s superstar Kobe Bryant, A.K.A. Black Mamba, probably wasn’t easy either. After all he is the player most compared to MJ. But now that the Thunder-Lakers series is over, we need to focus on what is going to happen to the OKC Thunder once they meet The San Antonio Spurs. Will the Thunder meet their Maker, or will the Spurs turn out to meet the same fate as the Lakers? We will just have to keep watching and see if it is going to be KD or TD to turn it on in the first game of the Western Conference finals , which is on Sunday, May 24.

SAN ANTONIO SPURS VS. LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS
WESTERN CONFERENCE SEMI-FINALS
For a veteran like Tim Duncan to go against youngster Chris Paul turned out to be an easy thing. Although Chris Paul is fast, and Blake Griffin can attack the rim, that obviously didn’t stand a chance against a high IQ basketball players, Tim Duncan and Tony Parker, who like to plan out their game and follow their plays. So Lob City went down with the other L.A. team the Lakers. Now the humble San Antonio Spurs will go against the OKC Thunder. The Thunder are aiming for a championship—determined, young, and Fast, with a capitol F. The San Antonio Spurs are on a roll, and I’m pretty sure event he humble Tim Duncan is hungry for a fifth ring… But are they as hungry As the OKC Thunder? Make sure to watch the game on Sunday, May 24.

BOSTON CELTICS VS. PHILIDELPHIA 76RS
EASTERN CONFERENCE SEMI-FINALS

The Sixers went down in the Eastern Conference Semi –finals to the Boston Celtics. Not known for his shooting but for his speed, Rajon Rondo still got down eleven points leading the Celtics to victory over Sixers in game seven. The Sixers were kind of edgy this season, but in the Eastern Conference Semi-finals against the Boston Celtics they seemed to know what they were doing, but knowing the plan didn’t seem to get them very far. The Boston Celtics were confident and they knew what they needed. They brought the Philly Sixers down by being fierce, hustling for the ball and trying to play solid on their offense. So what’s going to happen to the Boston when they come face to face with the Heat? We’ll just have to see.

MIAMI HEAT VS. INDIANA PACERS
EASTERN CONFERENCE SEMI-FINALS

Many people guessed what was going to happen to the Pacers in their Eastern Conference Semi –Finals, with the heat being the defensive team they are. And still feeling that they had unfinished business with the finals last year, they wouldn’t let anything get in the way of their title that they want so badly. The pacers played rough, and so the Miami heat had to do the same, the pacers did well, but that wasn’t enough for the Heat. The Heat made sure that the Pacers melted down their fiery inferno. The Heat was solid on defense and offense, and they made sure that they didn’t have the Pacers always on their tail. The pacers tried their best, but they did go a little overboard in terms of fouling and being physical like in one instance where Danny Granger grabbed LeBron James’ shirt. Danny really tried to get under LeBron James’ skin, but that didn’t stop the Heat from winning.

OKLAHOMA THUNDER VS. SAN ANTONIO SPURS
WESTERN CONFERENCE FINALS RECAP
The OKC are really proving to everyone that they are invincible and that they are the ones that are going to take home that Larry O’Brien championship trophy. The Spurs made themselves a worthy opponent for the OKC though they really made it hard for the OKC. But for Kevin Durant, it was probably another obstacle for him in the course. KD and his team are ready for anything they were even ready for the team full of Bball veterans (see Spurs vs. Clippers). But there were some moments of doubt in the match, because the Spurs tried to make it as hard as possible. Now who will the “Unstoppable” OKC go against? The Boston Celtics? Or maybe the Heat? Make sure to keep watching as we get closer to what we’ve been waiting for!

MIAMI HEAT VS. BOSTON CELTICS
EASTERN CONFERENCE FINALS

So the heat already has a one game lead against the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals. The heat made it seem easy, but Ray Allen was the little problem for the team he and KG were the players getting in the way of the Heat, and so was the young point guard, Rajon Rondo. This first game was an easy win for the Heat, but the big question is will it be the same for the next six games? Make sure to watch the second game in the Eastern Conference Finals on Wednesday, May 2.
